The beauty of artificial lighting: take a walk through your city at night or find out about it here.

«NIGHTWALKS» is a short film consisting of photos and movie sequences taken by Sarah Huber in Bern, Geneva, Locarno, Belgrade, London, Marseille and Tokyo. It is an impressive show of the beauty of shadows, cast by artificial lighting upon the cities structures at night.
Because of the vast amount of lamps, a city is never really dark. What we see of the city can become quite surreal at night; places look like paintings or images we seem to remember from movies, - especially if we leave the main streets behind and wander off into parks or residential areas.

The soundtrack to «Nightwalks» is made up of two tracks: The beautifully sombre Hip Hop instrumental «DJ Screams Medic Bonus» by the Shadow Huntaz (out on the Plug Research label) and the electronica track «Mes» by the wonderful Mexican artist Murcof (out on the Leaf label).

Sarah Huber (also known as Zera, born in 1972) lives in Switzerland and works at the CUE Institute amongst other things.
She is in charge of the fields-section on urbanfields.net. She has photographed a large number of cities displayed on urbanfields.net/fields.

Be warned, this movie is 161 Megabyte in size! You need a broadband Internet connection or a lot of patience. Mind you, it should be worth it.
